Medical Education is the important component of AYUSH. It is admitted fact that the education is a priority area and good education alone can produce good practitioners. Ayurvedic Education is regulated under the Indian Medicine Central Council Act, 1970 and the regulations made under this Act. At present 6 Ayurvedic colleges and one Homoeopathic college is functioning in the Haryana State. Out of 6 Ayurvedic Colleges, one Ayurvedic college namely Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College Kurukshetra is being run by the State Governemnt, 4 Ayurvedic Colleges are being run in private sector. One Ayurvedic College namely M.S.M. Institute of Ayurved, B.P.S.M. University, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat is the University College. One Homoeopathic college is being run in the private sector.

SHRI KRISHNA GOVERNMENT AYURVEDIC COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL KURUKSHETRA.
Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra was established on 1st May, 1972 by Hon’ble Shri Gulzari Lal Nanda, former Prime Minister of India, under the management of Navjeevan Sangh, Kurukshetra. This college was being run in Nabha House and the Hospital attached with this college was being run in a Dharamshala adjacent to the Nabha House at Kurukshetra. This college did not have its own building, instruments and equipments, library etc. Navjeevan Sangh was not in a position to run this college. Therefore, this college was taken over by the State Government w.e.f. 6.6.1975 from Navjeevan Sangh along with staff working in this college.
Considering the education subject of the University, State Government given the administrative control of Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra to Rohtak University, Rohtak w.e.f. 15.4.1977. The annual grants were also given by the State Government to the University to run this college for the period under which this college remained with the Rohtak University, Rohtak. This college was again taken over by the State Government from Maharishi Dayanand University, Rohtak along with staff w.e.f. 1.4.1980.
To develop this college, the State Government first of all decided to take immediate steps to acquire the land to construct the building of this College, Hospital, Pharmacy, Hostel, Nursing Hostel, residential quarters and for Herb Garden and play grounds etc. 23 acres of land was acquired by the State Government which is under the control of the department. The construction work of this college/hospital was started in phased manner according to availability of funds.
The construction work of Administrative Block, College, Lecture Halls, 1st Phase of Hospital building and Girl’s hostel have been completed. The construction work of the Boy’s hostel will be started soon.
This college is affiliated with the Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra and Ordinance, Syllabus & Academic guidelines of Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, Central Council of Indian Medicine are being followed by this college.

ELIGIBILITY AND ADMISSION PROCESSES
The eligibility of admission is 10+2 or equivalent with 50% marks with the subjects Physics, Chemistry & Biology for B.A.M.S. course. The admissions in B.A.M.S. Course are made through P.M.T. entrance test in this college. The Admissions in Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy course are made on Merit basis after advertisement in the news papers in this college. 10+2 or equivalent with the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology is required for Diploma in Ayurvedic Pharmacy Course.

OPENING OF NEW AYURVEDIC COLLEGE
The permission to start any new Ayurvedic or Homoeopathic college in the state is granted by the Government of India, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Department of AYUSH, New Delhi after getting the N.O.C. from the State Government as per guidelines issued by them and Central Council of Indian Medicine/ Central Council of Homoeopathy, New Delhi. The colleges are affiliated with the concerned University. The N.O.C. is granted by the State Government on the recommendation of the Committee constituted by the Director AYUSH Haryana as per guideline of the Government of India.
