1. Skill Enhancement Programmes
BCIL has been managing and implementing skill enhancement programmes such as industrial training programmes and research fellowship programmes since several years.
The aim of the industrial training programmes such as Biotech Industrial Training Programme (BITP), Bioinformatics Industrial Training Programme (BIITP) and Biotech Industrial Training Programme for North East (BITP-NER) managed by BCIL is to provide hands-on training and industrial exposure to students.
The aim of the research fellowship programmes such as Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) Programme and Bioinformatics National Certification (BINC) Programme managed by BCIL is to promote research and train young scientists in frontier areas of research in biotechnology.
2. Analytical Studies
BCIL has extensive expertise and experience in conducting analytical studies in various aspects of biotechnology management. Reports for evaluation studies, impact assessment studies, feasibility studies, course curriculum reframing exercise, teaching feedback portal, etc. have been prepared by BCIL.
Such analytical studies are important to identify initiatives for strengthening and improving the effectiveness of the programmes with interim incorporation of new strategies ensuring sustainability and continuous enhancement of programme delivery. The National Biotechnology Development Strategy recommends a matrix of measurement of processes as well as outcomes for error detection, correction, and re-design of initiatives on continuous basis
3. Capacity Building Workshops
BCIL has been conducting capacity building workshops/seminars in areas such as intellectual property, technology transfer, biosafety, biodiversity, entrepreneurship, grant- writing, etc.
BCIL organizes such capacity building workshops in two phases – a) Sensitive programmes which create general awareness of the domain and b) Comprehensive programmes which imparts detailed knowledge and hands-on training of the domain.
